Dean has been involved with the traffic aspects of several subdivision projects with more than fifty lots, numerous subdivisions of smaller scale, three major industrial parks, a major highway service centre, seven quarries, a new truck depot for the largest road transport operator in Northland, several education institutions (including a new high school and a trades training centre for the local Polytechnic), several motels, restaurants/cafes (including fast food), two premises for medical professionals and several offices. Dean prepared the Walking & Cycling strategy for Whangarei District Council, which adopted it in September 2007. He assisted Council with the resolution of appeals to its district plan covering 55 appeal points. All but one were resolved without the need for a court hearing.
